Looking back at the development of China's photovoltaic industry over the past 30 years, HJT, as a latecomer, has become one of the important technological paths for green new energy in the future by virtue of its excellent performance and potential. With the continuous progress of China's HJT technology and the increased localization of related equipment and materials, the HJT industry has ushered in a rapid expansion of production capacity and is rapidly entering a new phase of intense market competition. On October 18, 2024, the seventh roundtable meeting of the High Efficiency Heterojunction 740W+ Club was successfully held in Zhoushan, where the HJT industry elites gathered again to share the current industry policy, industrial promotion, technology pattern and other topics, which pointed out the course for the future market development of heterojunction. “The seventh roundtable meeting of the China PV Solar Efficient 740W+ Club was held by Zhejiang WINHITECH New Energy (referred to as WINHITECH) as the rotating chairman of the unit, and the meeting brought together Anhui Light Potential Energy, Anhui Huasun Energy Co. Ltd, Dongfang Risheng, Guangdong Mingyang Sunshine Volt, Guangdong Quanwei Technology, Guodian Investment New Energy, Guosheng Shian Technology, King Kong Photovoltaic, Liansheng Photovoltaic Technology, Shanghai Hengxi Photovoltaic, Tongwei, CNBM Joonxin, Rumphai Photovoltaic, Zhuhai Hongjun New Energy, etc. (the above is sorted according to the first letter of the Chinese alphabet) and other more than ten enterprises and top experts in the field of heterogeneous junction. The meeting focused on key topics such as HJT factory benchmarking and product selection, HJT cost optimization and efficiency improvement, industry going overseas and technical challenges. Participants actively discussed and shared, and jointly explored the direction of technological innovation and market expansion. WINHITECH Chairman Mr. Zeng Qingzhi expressed a warm welcome to the guests on behalf of the company at the roundtable, and said that the current market is facing the double pressure of high inventory and geopolitics, and the industry is facing a highly involutional winter, and the HJT industry is facing a lot of challenges in terms of cost and market. At the same time the adoption of new processes can reduce water consumption.   Xu Xin, senior vice president of Anhui Huasheng New Energy, puts forward: “The amount of water has a large impact on the cost, and the proportion and data of water used in different parts of the workshop and plant services need to be more accurate, so as to reflect the cost advantages of the HJT process.”   Zhao Xuewen, Chairman of Anhui Light Potential Energy, suggested: “Regarding benchmarking, we should add some cross-border comparisons, such as a comprehensive comparison with TOPCon's TOP 5 manufacturers at the level of water, electricity and gas, and some of our internal enterprises have some advantages”   WINHITECH General Manager Ni Zhichun proposed, “Factory benchmarking the next please rotate enterprise Tongwei shares to continue to collect industry data, with each round of data more and more accurate, our goal is naturally more and more clear.”   WINHITECH Chairman Zeng Qingzhi said, “The data needs to be more refined, such as the total amount of water consumption and its breakdown, and then the benchmarking of the breakdown items; secondly, the water consumption difference items, etc. need to be mined for reasons and countermeasures, and to do the industrial addition and subtraction to enhance the competitiveness of the industry.”   Liu Chang, executive secretary general of the 740W+ Club and founder of SOLARZOOM, said, “Part of the data is not accurate enough because of the capacity utilization figures, and the database should be expanded continuously in the future to further improve the authenticity and reference.”   Yang Bochuan, director of the Orient Sunrise Global Photovoltaic Research Institute, shared the progress of the work of HJT cell size optimization, the company has passed the internal controlled documents, the future use of the light transfer film will be further corrected and optimized, and the gradual improvement of the accuracy of the test method will improve the actual efficiency of the HJT, and at the same time, the standardization of the cell size is hoped to be pushed forward together through the members of the club and established.   The guests at the meeting fully discussed the path to improve the power of HJT cells and modules from the technical level, as well as the impact of cell size modification on the production line capacity, and the space and direction in which the string spacing can be improved. Anhui Huasheng and Dongfang Sunrise were proposed as the lead enterprises to promote the club's work on HJT cell size optimization.   Topic 2: How HJT responds to the challenges of industrialization of TOPCon, BC, and Chalcogenide technologies   Ni Zhichun, General Manager of WINHITECH, proposed, “HJT's current stage of development encounters the dual challenges of TOPCon and BC technology.TOPCon has gone to the limit of efficiency and cost but has a huge market share, while the industrialization of chalcocite is still far away, and the future of BC batteries may pose a huge challenge, and how HJT breaks through needs our collective thinking and active response.”   Dr. Zhang Zhongwei, Chief Scientist and Director of New Energy Research Institute of Guosheng Technology, pointed out, “We need to think about the market strategy to deal with TOPCon, BC and other technology routes, such as the real cost of commercialization and power generation performance index of TOPCon and BC, in order to be able to really do what we need to do. At the three levels of efficiency, cost, and market application scenario demand, 740W+ Club members need to respond positively to find core competitive advantages, such as widening the power gap with other technology routes, and win the confidence of the market and capital, given the current low market share.”   Tang Doudou, Vice President of Lianshang Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd. believes, “In the face of the challenge of industrialization of TOPCon, BC, and Chalcogenide technologies, the HJT industry can set a minimum dominant price, and by setting such a dominant price, the HJT enterprises are able to find a balance between technological innovation and market expansion, which will not only ensure their own interests, but also promote the whole sustainable development of the industry.”   Qiu Wenkai, Executive General Manager of Ming Yang Volt, shared with the guests some empirical data of distributed PV power plants, including power generation data of mountainous as well as industrial and commercial distributed projects, including BC projects.Ni Zhichun, General Manager of WINHITECH, etc., expressed their approval and proposed that the authenticity of benchmarking on the application side is very important, such as the authenticity of the samples, which determines whether the data of the experiments are accurate or not, and that other different scenarios may affect the performance of different technologies, we should increase cooperation and information sharing more in the industry.   Topic 3: HJT Cost Reduction and Efficiency Enabling Future PV Industry Development WINHITECH 0BB project leader Hu Qiong shared “Heterogeneous Junction Module Cost Analysis and Optimization Discussion”, discussing the cost analysis of modules under different 0BB schemes and the optimization direction of encapsulation adhesive film cost, indicating that the superposition of 0BB's future predictable scale market and cost reduction technology is the scientific path to reduce cost and increase efficiency in the full cycle of 0BB cells and modules.   Dr. Zhang Zhongwei, Chief Scientist and Director of New Energy Research Institute of Guosheng Technology, mentioned: “0BB main gridless process eliminates the main grid at the battery side, which has the advantages of reduced silver consumption and power enhancement, thus HJT has the most urgent need for 0BB process introduction, and therefore HJT has taken the lead in realizing the introduction of 0BB process. With technological innovation and cost advantages, Chinese PV enterprises are actively exploring overseas markets and seizing the development opportunities of the global new energy industry. PV overseas has been from the 1.0 era of product exports, toward the 2.0 era of production capacity, technology and services to go overseas.   Geopolitics and dual-carbon countdown will reshape the global PV industry chain, how to release production capacity through the second sea and industrial integration, while further enhancing the influence of China's manufacturing in the overseas market, has become the focus of this meeting to discuss the subject.   Xu Xin, Senior Vice President of Anhui Huasheng New Energy, shared the experience of Huasheng's brand and technology going to sea, and he put forward, “Light assets brand and technology going to sea, pulling capital and driving the creation of a localized industrial chain, and the enterprises going to sea need to take into account the local industrial chain needs and their own advantages, and actively deal with the challenges and risks brought by the multi-polarized market facing the globalization process in the future. Power generation gain of 3.33%-RunSea Solar's HJT module half-yearly empirical data is out.
From September 25th to 26th, the 2024 PV Industry Technology Innovation Conference with the theme of “Accelerating Innovation Leadership and Welcoming the ‘Dual Carbon’ Era” was held in Chuzhou. In the “high-efficiency photovoltaic module technology and application” special session, the National Center for Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality Inspection and Testing (CPVT) made a “different application scenarios of photovoltaic product selection and evaluation program and case sharing” theme report, which shares the WINHITECH commissioned to send samples of the HJT module and TOPCon module since January 2024 power generation changes, through the empirical data show that: the HJT module relative to the TOPCon module, as the temperature increases, the HJT module will be more efficient than the TOPCon module. The empirical data shows that the gain in power generation per watt of HJT modules relative to TOPCon modules increases gradually with the increase in temperature, reaching 3.33% in July. The demonstration project is located in CPVT Yinchuan base, using WINHITECH PV's 210HJT-66 modules and TOPCon modules, with a string installation inclination angle of 40°, and the lowest point of the module is 1 meter from the ground, ordinary sandy ground. The data collected since late January 2024 shows that the monowatt power generation gain of Runhai Solar's 210HJT-66 version modules compared with TOPCon modules has been gradually improved, and the monowatt power generation gain in July has reached 3.33%. In July, the average daily gain per watt of HJT modules and the average daily working temperature data show that the gain per watt of HJT modules is greatly affected by the working temperature, and the higher the temperature is, the more obvious the gain is. Several single-day HJT module gains have exceeded 3.5%, showing that HJT modules have obvious power generation advantages in months with higher temperatures. In summary, based on the actual data collected in the half-year, HJT components relative to TOPCon components, the maximum gain per watt has reached 3.33%, the temperature rise brought about by the relatively lower power loss. If superimposed on the backside of the no-shade installation method, the backside power gain can be increased, and the comprehensive advantage can reach up to 4~5%.
